251. Feather

I found myself deeply

in love with her,

as her voice,

like a delicate songbird,

chimed its way

into my vacant heart;

Loving each other

in the backseat of my car,

I knew it on that very night,

that we’d be lovers for life.

And I’ve always loved you

to the moon and back,

never knowing what to say,

besides, “I love you.”

And I’d wait for you to say it,

so I would say it again,

“I love you.” my lips read,

but they were silent this time.

My words had never left my head,

for they lay with me in my bed.

It all felt like a vivid dream,

but then that night I fell asleep.

It was on the night of the kiss,

the night you gave my life a twist.

The very same night we touched,

you’d given me such a headrush.

I felt the warmth upon your cheeks,

and it made my knees feel weak.

I felt like floating to the floor,

hoping there would be a hidden door

for us to find buried treasure.

Memories; life’s greatest pleasure.

We’d search and search for many hours,

but all we found were wilted flowers.

Wanting for the snow to melt,

your heartbeat was all I ever felt

beneath the frosted shores

of my shattered heart,

now pieced together as art.

And, I love you so much,

ever since we first touched.

The bond we’ve come to share,

was never made once without care.

And I have a feeling we’ll stay together,

as you and I share the same feather.
