217. The Many Ways To Get There

Published on 3 May 2017 at 04:05

If you want to go somewhere,

there are many ways to get there.

Why not fly a bike, or ride a kite;

or perhaps swim through the sky,

and soar through the sea;

or ride on a bumble bee all the way

to where you want to be?

You can walk along a jumprope,

or hop through life with a tightrope.

You can drive your shoes,

read the blues, walk your car,

listen to a book, wherever you are!

And surely you get nonsense,

but don’t understand much sense.

If you want to go somewhere,

it doesn’t matter how you get there,

or how you do the things you do.

As long as you’re entirely you,

why not try something new?

Play an instrument like a sport,

do tall things when you’re short,

and short things when you’re tall;

and if you fall, make sure to smile.

At least, for a little while; and if

you come to a fork in the road,

it won’t matter which way you go.

Dance to the melody of the tick,

for there is no tick without a tock;

says the estranged counting clock.

Stand upside down, and look down.

and your eyes still follow the sky.

Look down, and you’ll see the ground,

if you’re still standing upside down.

And here I’d lose track of where I’m at,

if it weren’t for my thinking hat.

I wouldn’t be too sure how I got here,

but maybe I’d flown here on a reindeer.

Oh dear, that makes no such sense,

though much of today is just nonsense.

If you want to get there, to somewhere,

there are as many ways as there are

strands of hair on the top of  your head.

And yes, there may be a few dead ends,

but that does not mean you have to pretend

to be happy; just follow your dreams,

and you’ll get to wherever you were meant to be,

in the very, very end.—Wait and see.
