219. The Humming Tree

Published on 21 May 2017 at 04:10

I heard a lovely melody

atop a lonely humming tree.

The only one of its kind,

a truly dying breed.

She stood tall, but weak.

Old, and lost, she seemed.

She had seen far too much

that all she did now was weep.

I could hear her deepend cries,

to let others know she was still alive.

And so I wept alongside her,

to let her know I heard her cries.

It was then that I could see,

my cries had made her happy.

She no longer stood in sorrow,

and thus hummed a new melody.

One that touched my human heart.

I could feel it burning bright like a star,

no longer cold and burnt out,

as I listened to the once dying art…

…of the lovely humming tree,

now forever in my heart…
