I’d once a thought
that I was somehow lost,
and quite frightened,
but it wasn’t till I met you,
that my days had brightened.
I could feel my heart race,
round and round it went,
and I needed not pretend
that I’d finally found my place
here where we first met.
It is often a strange thing,
a thing called Wonderland.
Where my heart may
forever sing, and dance,
and beat yet again,
to the song of life,
from beginning to end.
And often I am lost in a dream,
in this place I can’t think to be real.
Where my heart
flutters and breathes,
and dances with
all the trees and their leaves.
It has to be, though,
if I am able to feel.
The doubt I once had
in finding land,
disappeared as I was
no longer at sea.
And you can see that
this was not my plan,
but I am grateful for this dream,
for this is the dream
of a lonely man.
And you will see that
I am here to stay,
as long as you don’t run off
to Neverland,
to where you’d be lost,
and it’d be too late.
Perhaps if you would
be my Wonderland,
we’d remain here together,
forever and always,
and ever after.
In a land with laughter
and joy and where
two hearts can be one.
And that is love, you see,
having two turtle doves
in a land filled with dreams.
And I never want that to end,
the feeling of being in a strange land,
a world that is you and me,
and a sea of precious memories.
A kind of Wonderland, you might say,
and so, I will ask you just one more thing.
Please stay here and be my Wonderland.
