Oh how the world has come since I met her,
And I have known her all my life, it seems.
In each heartbeat, each breath, I find the word,
And I find it there, so incredibly deep.
My troubled mind, laying by the wayside,
I thought she would pass right by me, coldly,
And I'd be forgotten in this lifetime.
But she bent close and did not pass me by.
I felt the compassion within her eyes,
Her breath upon my devastated soul.
The fear of a lonely heartbeat, I cried.
And I reclaimed the life that darkness stole.
